Weband root dry weight of five cultivars grown hydroponically. Root volume was determined by water displacement and root dry weight was measured on excised roots dried at 70C for 48 hours. Cultivars were significantly different (at the 1% level) in volume and dry weight with 'Turkey' a comparatively low grain yieider being lower in both.
